After I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, I found that the simplest of meals affected me adversely. I decided to see a dietitian that would me with my diet while my body healed. I am Dipti Raut from Mumbai, I used to be 92 kg. Health issues were my primary reason and hence I decided to lose weight. Firstly I consulted dietician so that I could plan a proper diet. Along with gym sessions, I also started reducing carbohydrates in my diet. I lost weight gradually but steadily and went down to 72kg. I think what worked is a combination of sustained and regular exercise with a healthy diet. I was appr 97 kgs when I started seriously thinking about weight loss. I took up to playing badminton, to begin with, and as a result, lost 7 kgs in the next few months. While I continued to play, the weight loss stopped. I got a recommendation to consult Shilpa Joshi, RD and that would turn out to be a key trigger for me. The key issue she had was to ensure that I have enough energy to play and also reduce calorie intake to ensure weight loss. She ensured that the diet plan will provide me enough energy to continue to play and also lose weight. First time I visited Shilpa Joshi, RD in Jan 2018 my weight was 92.7 kgs and I had high blood pressure and cholesterol.She made the necessary change in my diet and suggesting walking since I was not much into physical activity.I lost 3 kgs in the first month and with regular follow-up and necessary changes in diet plan based on my weight loss I lost 15 kgs in 10 months. Now I weigh 77.7 kgs ideal for my height of 5 ft 10 inch. My Blood pressure and cholesterol are normal now and am feeling very energetic. Shilpa Joshi, RD was referred to me after I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 30. Right off the bat she was immensely comforting and reassuring that my life is going to go back to the way it was. Through the course of 5 sessions, she taught me how to count carbohydrates and how to accurately determine my carb-insulin ratio. She also focused on the characteristics of a lot of Indian foods for which you can’t readily find information online. Through these sessions and a few follow up ones, she has geared me into tackling the daily food decisions that come with Type 1 Diabetes without overthinking it. I was having GDM around 6th month of pregnancy and I was referred to Joshi ma'am for diet as I was not willing to take medicines to control sugar. The diet she prescribed was easy to follow and with 10days the sugar was normalized. I continued the diet plan till my delivery. It helped me to Maintain the weight too.

I have been living in US/Canada for the last decade and working in Diabetes- so as my mum's control deteriorated I began to worry anticipating comorbidities. I strongly believe that the right diet is crucial for bringing control to T2 patients. Knowing fully well that patient adherence is strongly linked to the patient understanding I was looking for a credible dietitian with the ability to explain concepts to someone like my mother (very basic understanding of the disease state and limited attention span). I have faced the issue of being overweight since I was a child and there was never an explanation for it as to why was I gaining so much weight. Thereafter the issues piled up so much that it messed up with my menstruation cycle. A few years later a word came in my life “PCOS” which went onto become the answer to my every problem but doctors and dietician had no solution to it other than me starving myself, losing my glow and hair along the way and losing weight the wrong way until Shilpa Joshi, RD was introduced to me. For years I followed diets like they were some sort of punishment for me but with Shilpa’s diet, it is like I finally found solutions to my every problem while still eating the most healthy but the most stomach filling food. 2 years ago when I came back from my holidays I was falling sick very often sometimes with a headache nausea frequent thirst hunger and the urge for frequent urination so my doctor told me to go for a full check-up and to my surprise my blood sugar was about 500 fasting and I was prescribed medications to bring my blood sugar under control but still my fasting sugar would go up to 145 and post meals to about 175 till I met Shilpa Joshi, RD under whose guidance and a proper diet my fasting sugar is always under 100 and post meals maximum to 130 but I am under no medication for diabetes at all ,a well-controlled diet and exercise actually reversed my diabetes
I had consulted her during my pregnancy. She gave me a very practical diet plan which could be easily incorporated into my schedule and availability. Her dietary advice helped me sail through a wel nourished pregnancy with no excess weight difficult to shed off post partum with me back to my original weight post partum.
